Is the Microwave Wrecking Your Efforts When Working on Losing Weight?

Just because life can get busy and hectic there is no reason why you can't make quick wholesome meals. Anyone who has a microwave can make fast healthy meals that will help assist with long term weight loss. It is easy to eat right, and fast.

You just need to be conscious of the food that you actually put in the microwave. Many busy, tired dieters come home from work cook themselves a fat and sometimes high carbohydrate frozen entree.

Often processed foods have very little nutritional value because the are lacking vitamins and Antioxidants. They are also very high in sodium. Also many frozen meals are extremely low in fiber which is one of the keys to losing losing pounds without feeling hungry.

Here are some quick tips to put your microwave to positive use while you are working on loosing weight.

1) Steam veggies for a super-fast dinner side. Toss broccoli, spinach, carrots, you-name-it in a bowl, add a little water, and cover with plastic wrap. A few minutes later you've got a fresh, fiber-rich side.

2) For the main dish, take a nice piece (the size of a deck of cards) of salmon or a boneless chicken breast with a little bit of pepper and a squirt of lemon. Or "Fry" turkey bacon for a quick breakfast. Layering bacon in paper towels keeps the meat crisp and delicious. It also helps you drain the grease away, leaving you with a protein-rich start to the day.

3) Boil water and make yourself a nice cup of green tea. Green tea fights off cancer and has antioxidants that are good for your skin. Green tea also helps to speed up your metabolism. Add a nice slice of lemon.

If you find yourself making a frozen microwave meals from time to time, just be sure to complement it with a nice green salad or fresh fruit.

Don't let a busy lifestyle become and excuse to not eat healthy. There are many quick easy meals you can make on the go. Just be sure to slow down enough to think about what your are cooking when you are working on loosing weight.

Eat to Raise Your Metabolism

I've been reading a lot about how you can eat to raise your metabolism and loose weight in an easy healthy way. There are many health benefits of eating smaller portions and eating more often. Why does eating this way, raise your metabolism?

Look at it this way. Imagine your body like a furnace. If you were to put a big soggy log on your fire what would happen? It would take a while to catch on fire and may even put your fire out. However if you were to put in some kindling and some small logs your fire will start burning the wood right away. And you will need to give it more fuel more often so the fire keeps burning.

Our body works the same way. When we eat smaller meals throughout the day (give it fuel), it causes our body to burn that fuel constantly. This is speeding up your metabolism.

But the most important key is to eat the right kinds of foods. And we are talking about small meals as well. I suggest partnering a lean protein with a complex carbohydrate. Here are some ideas of some regular small meals.

A small salad with cold chicken and assorted veggies.

cottage cheese with applesauce or peaches

a protein shake

a string cheese with a small low cal. yogurt
